METAMORHPOSES OF A BOWL

 Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch, Thailand

 13 May – 14 June 2025

The ceramic work of Supanichvoraparch, who mainly works under the artist
name Wasinburee, focuses on the uncontrollable. His work is characterized by a
dialogue between intention and chance. He has always explored the limits of the
material, searching for moments in which control and unpredictability
intertwine. Earlier series such as Unfillable Cup (2017) laid the foundation for
his exploration of the idea of misappropriation: vessels that deliberately deny
their function and serve as a metaphor for social limitations.

In his current series NFT - Non-Functional Teacups (since 2023), Wasinburee
delves deeper into this world of thought. Using a variety of materials such as
glass-like clay, foam beads, sand and crater glazes, he creates objects that
oscillate between art and craft, between the everyday and conceptual art.

The allusion to the abbreviation “NFT”, known from the digital art market,
underlines the artist's playful and critical approach: what remains of function
when the purpose is removed? And how does our perception of an object such as
a bowl change when the object withdraws from use?

Wasinburee thus remains true to his artistic credo: exploring the possibilities of
ceramics, challenging existing conventions - and opening up new spaces in the
unpredictable.
